The 2023 growing season in Napa Valley was defined by patience and precision. Abundant winter and spring rains restored vineyard soils, followed by a mild, extended summer that allowed for gradual phenolic development and exceptional balance at harvest.Sourced from a single vineyard in the heart of Rutherford, this Cabernet Sauvignon reflects both site and season with clarity. Hand-terraced rows with southern exposure rise to approximately 400 feet in elevation, rooted in well-drained volcanic and sandstone soils. The extended ripening period intensified dark fruit concentration while preserving structure and composure. Built for both immediate presence and graceful evolution.

Winemaker notes:
COLOR: Deep garnet with an opaque core and a luminous ruby edge.NOSE: Layered aromatics of black cherry and cassis unfold alongside dried tobacco leaf, warm blackberry compote, and a subtle note of Rutherford earth. Hints of cedar and baking spice emerge with aeration.PALATE: Concentrated dark fruit framed by finely grained tannins. Blackberry and plum carry through a seamless mid-palate to a long, composed finish with depth and balance.BLEND: 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet FrancBARREL: 55% barrel fermentation, 45% stainless steel tank, average 32–36 days on skinsAGING: 22 months in French oak, 75% new, 25% once-filled barrels$88 - BUY ME
The Stareye is our top Cabernet Sauvignon wines and was first released in 2012. It is made from dry farmed Cabernet planted in sandy Yountville AVA soils with a varying amount of 1-4% Cabernet Franc, depending on the vintage. Each vintage ranges from five to seven barrels of our finest expression.
Usually aged in large-format French puncheon barrels for a more subtle oak influence, the Stareye displays a velvety texture and a heightened aromatic profile. This wine is an exceptional candidate for cellaring, with an optimal drinking window of 10-12 years.

Winemaker notes:
COLOR: A deep, inky hue with rich aromas of briny olive, dark fruit, and polished wood.NOSE: Aromas of dark berry, forest herbs, and hints of savory olive draw you in, with nuances of ripe plum and subtle woody spice adding layers to the profile.PALATE: Dark fruit and a hint of polished wood, creating an intriguing and complex profile. Notes of ripe currant bring a juicy element, balanced by an earthy, refined undertone that adds depth and warmth. The combination is both bold and nuanced, leaving a memorable impression.BLEND: 98% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet FrancBARREL: 50% barrel fermented, 50% stainless steel fermentedAGING: 19 months, 100% French oak; 20% new, 80% puncheon barrels$115 - BUY ME
This vintage took a level of control in the vineyard and was a vital aspect for us to meticulously manage the fruit from bud break to harvest. For this particular Cabernet blend, we chose blocks situated in the heart of the vineyards. Sourced from a single source vineyard in the Rutherford AVA. The hand-terraced vine rows have southern exposure and well-drained volcanic and sandstone soils. The property is at approximately 400 feet in elevation. Classic “Rutherford dust” character completes the profile of this limited release.
